How to Persevere Past the Potholes - Third Part

Let's talk turkey.  Life is difficult. However, our God is bigger than "difficult." You can fly like an eagle even if you are a single mother.

You can pursue power in your life. Then you will not just cope with the problems, you will FLY!

THE PERILS

Perils cover a wide range of issues in the life of a single mom. Some are personal to each individual single mom, others the common everyday stuff all mothers face.

I address the perils of single mothering in my book, Living Learning Loving, Lessons of Insight and Encouragement on the Path of Motherhood. The chapters listed below address many of the issues women face, whether raising children as a single parent or not.

  • Living with Solitude
  • Living with Boundaries
  • Living with Grief
  • Living with Courage
  • Learning to Be Self Aware
  • Learning to Prioritize
  • Learning to Wait
  • Learning to Value Morality
  • Loving the Fun
  • Loving the Growth
  • Loving the Power of Prayer
  • Loving with Wisdom Gathered from Others

Here is an excerpt from the chapter, “Learning to Value Morality.”

As a parent you are the one who must set the rules for your household. You can’t be your child’s buddy. At times this can be quite unpleasant, but it is part of the process of parenting. The Ten Commandments are a really good starting point for setting the moral tone of your home.

I urge you to pay attention to these simple truths as you raise your children, teaching them to survive in this wild and crazy world. Let them know there are ethics, principles to live by, and that morals will put light on the path they walk. Choices and options may be simpler for them to deal with, and the results will bring with them a sense of purpose as well as personal and spiritual achievement.

I’m convinced that God gives an extra share of wisdom to the mothers who ask for it.

You are a wise women if you:

  •  Demonstrate moral and ethical behaviors in your own life. Children do what they see.
  • Talk about the importance morals have in living a successful life.
  • Emphasize developing the inner person as well as the outer person.
  • Talk about character and how important it is to build a good one.

Your Power

Your real power comes with earnest prayer. I’ve always believed that mothers have an edge when it comes to prayer because their prayers are mostly unselfish and have the best interest of their children at heart.

From my chapter, “Loving the Power of Prayer.”

Prayer can be a scream, a cry, or a whisper.

Prayer is forgiving ourselves and others.

Prayer is pleading with Almighty God.

Prayer is a yearning to have our way.

Prayer is a conversation.

Prayer is being grateful.

Prayer is being sorry.

“Prayer is not getting things from God. Prayer is getting into perfect communion with God.”  - Oswald Chambers

How can you know that you are in ‘communion with God?’

A personal story of one of my experiences with prayer demonstrates an unusual confirmation of communion with God. You may download The Gift Shop Miracle for a true story of one way that God shows he hears.

With a plan, passion, and power you will persevere past the potholes, pests, and perils of single parenting. I know you can be SMORE, a Single Mom who is Overjoyed, Rejuvenated, and Empowered.
