I Can't Fix It

Be honest. Do you have some of these thoughts deep down in your heart? Shhhhh…I won’t tell anyone:

  • I’m deeply hurt over my child’s choice in this area.

  • I roll my eyes in my mind when this certain person walks into the room,

  • I’m ashamed concerning this thing in my past.

  • I’m grieved over my family’s dysfunction.

  • I feel helpless in changing a situation with my son or daughter.

  • I’m at odds with this other person, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

  • I feel guilty as a mother. Surely I could have done certain things differently.

  • I’m disappointed that life did not turn out for me the way I had planned.

Friend, what do we do with these nagging thoughts in our hearts? How do we overcome what can’t be fixed, changed, or reversed? When will we find a way to live above the disappointments, the shame, guilt, and sadness? What can be said about life when we’re stuck in our circumstances?

All these questions and more led me to writing a study series called I CAN’T FIX IT – Discovering God’s Pathway to PeaceI, too, have wrestled with some of these issues that have given me sleepless nights. In considering it all, a thought came to me about five years ago, “Pam, what is God’s job and what is yours?” After discovering the answer to that question, I found myself letting go with ease. God gave me insight when I felt powerless in fixing the problem.

In the new online video series, I CAN’T FIX IT, I’ll cover these four areas, one each week: I can’t fix the kids. I can’t fix others. I can’t fix the past. I can’t fix the present. We’ll discover together why these can be so hurtful and learn God’s pathway to peace. We’ll laugh. We’ll grieve. We’ll rejoice. We’ll come out with tools for summoning God to the rescue when we feel defeated or just need a booster shot for the moment.

Sign up today and Arise Ministries will send each week’s lesson to you on Sunday night at 5 pm starting June 24. And what’s the cost? Nothing! It’s free. We raise funds all year so we can provide these online video lessons to moms around the world. And might I add, we also have FREE online Bible study and reflection questions for small groups or individual studies.

Friends, I’ve written a lot in my years in ministry but nothing that I believe is more helpful for us women FOR A LIFETIME than this study. We’ll always have “I can’t fix its.” How can we rise above them and find joy in spite of them?

I hope you’ll join me in the big kick off June 24. Sign up right HERE. Got an “I can’t fix it?” What are you waiting for, friend? This study is waiting for you!

About Pam Kanaly   Read more by this author...

Aloha! I’m Pam Kanaly, President and co-founder of Arise Ministries. But actually, I think Arise found me wanting to bless single moms years ago. Ministry was never on my mind as a kid. All I wanted to be was a hula dancer. So Mother enrolled me in the tiny tots’ class. Guess God knew I'd have two grandbabies born in Hawaii. I love the great outdoors. You might even find me spending time with my husband grizzly bear watching or camping. In fact, it was on a turkey hunt that God gave me the name Arise Ministries in 2002. I suppose it’s a good thing that I majored in Grammar in college since I love to write words of encouragement to single moms.
